Here are some more digital photos of the Barn Owls at The Centre.

Here is a photo of the Barn Owls' nesting box. The photo was taken late in the breeding season, when we least like to disturb them, hence the vegitation overgrowth, and evidence of their cohabitation. The photo shows about a third of the length of their aviary.
The next box has a row of shielded 40 watt bulbs in the center section, and a door on each side. Both whole fronts of both sides lift up for emergency access, the centre section housing the light blubs slides out for bulb replacement.

Although shy, one of the Barn Owls did come out for a look after we waited for a while for his picture.

A closer look at this fellow.
Recently, The Centre has let go of its stock of Barn Owls, as they were all sent to the Calgary Zoo, who sent them on to their sister zoo, the Daejeon Zoo in South Korea, where they are now part of a North American raptors exhibit. The Barn owls will be surely missed.
